Sifu Brian Tufts started martial arts training in 1972 with Judo at the YMCA in Tucson and then began training in Tae Kwon Do and eventually, in 1980, he was introduced to Master Augustine Fong by a family friend and found his passion. After training with Master Fong for 12 + years Brian was certified and earned his black sash in wing chun gung fu. In 1993 Sifu Brian competed in the Tiger Balm International Martial Arts Championship in San Francisco, Ca, and took home first place in the heavy weight division. Shortly after winning the competition, SiFu Brian opened his own martial arts studio in Tempe, Az, but recently located to Cave Creek. Eager to learn more about combat skills from other parts of the globe, Sifu Brian began training with the top Brazilian Jiu Jitsu instructors in1994 and in 2007, met Guro Jerri Toki who has become his Kali instructor. Sifu Brian will be incorporating the Philipino Kali art into his classes in the near future. Sifu Brian now teaches his classes out of a small studio at his residence in Cave Creek, Az.
